We know, wedding planning is hard sometimes. There are so many details that you worry about, tiny things that you don’t want to miss. We totally get it. This is why we started our Tips section of the blog! You are able to walk through the many catering related details that are essential to the success of your event at your own pace. Today, we’re talking about guest dietary restrictions and allergies!
There are so many food allergies and dietary preferences/restrictions, it’s almost hard to keep track! Shellfish, Gluten, Wheat, Dairy, Peanuts, Soy, & the list goes on and on! At Montero’s, food safety is one of our top priorities and of course, we want ALL of your guests to enjoy their meal!
The very first step in ensuring your guests with food allergies and dietary restrictions can have a meal that they enjoy on the night if your wedding is to ASK! You’ll want to have a small section on your RSVP’s asking guests to list any known dietary restrictions. If you’d rather keep it off of your RSVP cards, you could also request on your wedding website that guests reach out to you directly if they have any dietary restrictions. People who have food allergies are often very forthcoming about it and are happy to share those details with you to ensure they are able to eat at your wedding!
Once you know about a guest’s specific food allergy or dietary restriction(s), make a note of it on your guest list. About two weeks out from the wedding, let your Catering Sales Manager know that you have some guests with dietary restrictions and what those restrictions are. Sometimes, we are able to address the allergy by removing a sauce or adjusting your selected menu items in a small way, but if their allergy/restriction cannot be met, we will send you or your guest to our main restaurant menu so that they can choose another entree they’d like to have! Our staff will pack it individually and prepare it individually on-site the day of your wedding.
When you are giving us your final guest counts (at 10 days out from the wedding for Montero’s couples!), you will also want to provide the guest names, allergies/restrictions, and their table assignment so that when their table is served or called up to the buffet, they are served at the same time as the rest of the guests to avoid any delay in service.
We hope this helps you to prepare for a small detail in wedding planning that can make a big difference in the eyes of your guests! If you have any questions, leave them here in the comments and we’re happy to help!
