Here at Montero’s Restaurant, we’ve always prided ourselves on giving back to the community in some way shape or form. Whether it’s through the S.A.F.E. Schools Fund or events like Dine Out to Help Out, we’re always looking for new and different ways to give back to the city that we call home – Elizabeth City, North Carolina.

Dine Out to Help Out is an event that runs on June 12th. We give back 10% of the proceeds from that evening straight to Food Bank of the Albemarle. We’re proud to be a participating restaurant, and we’d love to see you out to support Montero’s and our desire to give back!

Did you know that for every $1 raised, the Food Bank can provide up to four meals for a family in need? That makes the 10% of the evening go so far in our community!  Some facts that might be interesting to you about the level of need within our community:

22% of children face hunger right here in the Albemarle.  That means that they are unable to access enough food for an active, healthy life.  57% of children are enrolled in free and reduced meal programs at school, and sometimes the only meal that they are guaranteed are those meals that they get at school.  61% of the households that the Food Bank of the Albemarle serves have to choose between paying for housing and buying food each month.

The need is there – we just need to continue to support the community in which we live.  It’s events like Dine Out to Help Out that make all the work that the Food Bank of the Albemarle is doing continue to do good in our community.  Your support means the world to us, but more importantly, the recipients of the help that the Food Bank offers.
